Shortcut to Desktop 1

One my previous PC (XP home)there was a v useful shortcut on the left hand side of the bottom of the screen, next to the Start buttom. With it I could, with one click, minimise all open windows and gain acces to my desktop shortcuts. How do I re-instate that with my new (XP Home) set-up? I realise that I can achieve the same result with Right-click bar/Show the Desktop, but that is two clicks instead of one. Exhausting!
