I have some recollection of being able to cycle thru the various sub-tools of a tool (the ones that pop out when you click on the tool palette) by just tapping the shortcut for that too l repeatedly.

This was VERY handy, and saved a lot of time.

For example, hitting "L" would give me the lasso too, hitting "L" again would give the polygonal lasso, and hitting "L" a third time would give me the magnetic lasso. This approach would work for all tool with sub-tools.

Either I imagined this or it is something from earlier version or from Illustrator.

Could someone PLEASE let me know if there is someway of enabling this sort of functionality?

Shift and the corresponding letter will achieve that shortcut.

Cool, but it would be better to be able to do that without needing to press the Shift button.

I am sure I have done this in the past.

And I vanna toilet made of solid gold but it's just not in the cards, now is it?

I totally understand - I'll research keyboard shortcuts - I'll post here but let us know if you come up with anything first.

Hi, simply go to Edit-Preference-Main and uncheck <use shift key for tools switch>
Now you have just to click the letter
