I was requested from several members of this forum to give a short list and description on commands for the VMX systems.

At the @-prompt type:
L H - to see the alarm logg.
C H - to clear the alarm logg.
L F - List of features bought for the VMX system.
L R - List reports (1-8). Traffic measurements.

PS - Port status. (idle, busy...)
DEX 1 - Check the harddisk for bad clusters or vice versa.
The last two commands need the MAINT password to work.

U - go to the update menu to make add, moves and changes...

Here at the .-prompt type:

"?" to get this list:

- The following UPDATE commands and optional /MODIFIERS/ are valid :

.LIST table ( list contents of specified table )
.LIST ALL ( list contents of all tables )
.LIST ? ( list all valid table names )
.MODIFY DATE ( modify system date and time )
.MODIFY table ( modify desired table entries )
.ADD table ( add entries to table specified )
.DELETE table ( delete desired table entries )
.EXIT ( exit UPDATE or INSTALL )

So, in general it is possible to:
List, add, delete and modify the data in the VMX system.

All users in the system have a profile.
L PROF is a nice command that shows the relation between
COS (Class of Service), INFOrmation table and SCHedule.
Try to list these by:
L COS
L INFO
L SCH
All can be Listed, added, deleted and modified by commands.

To create a NEW profile:
List the posibilities for COS by: L COS A.
Then create a COS by: A COS. (0-127)
And create the INFO table by : A INFO (1-255)
And at last tie the COS and the INFO together by adding the scedule table: A SCH.

Below I have pasted an example how to create COS=11:

.A COS
Enter COS.
COS:11

Hi 2375 & KenMeans (and others)

Thank you.

Doktor,

That's good stuff for the folks that find themselves as owners of the legacy VMX servers without any product knowledge.

I was just going to add, if it wasn't already known, that you can get many of the documents for supporting your Octels and VMX's online at support.avaya.com if you are interested. I&M/Admin/Config notes/User guides, etc.

Just go to the Messaging link and scroll down to the Octel links.

AT&T/Inter-Tel/Octel/Lucent/Avaya and now Adomo...does it get any better?? ;-)
