I have created a short code in the user ext218 with a line id of 2. It seems like it doesn't work and the system short code which is the same as the user code with a line id of 0, over powers it. Is there a way around this?

Basically I have a fax machine connected to the first analog port and I want this to dial out to line id 2 only and it seems to like line id 0.

Any suggestions?

I would create a Least Cost Route called "FAX". You will need to create a time profile from 00:00 to 23:59 for the LCR to use. You could call it fax as well.

If you haven't discovered it yet, you can click the help button on any tab of any form and it will walk you through the entries.

Feel free to ask if you run into problems

Why would he need a time profile? Why not just leave the time profile bit blank? Actually, why use LCR - as that is a system wide feature - not user specific?

I presume x218 is the fax machine

What short code is in the 'user' shortcodes bit?

Is it : ? . Dial 2
and the system one : ? . Dial 0

LCR is proccesed after all other Shortcodes.
It takes anthying sent to a dail type feature * process it a 2nd time.
this willover ride any line settings unless it is programmed carfully
