I have set up some speed dial codes for a customer. They want the display to show the number instead of the shortcode. I am not on site and tried to test this with the IPO on our bench. I can't figure out how to get that to work. Has anyone done this?

Use the directory, put the SC in telephone number, and what ever you like them to see in the Name part.

If you have a range of SC in the directory you can use;

TelN: *99???
Name: ShortCode

Then it will show "ShortCode:XXX" XXX is the last digits from the SC ???

It shows what it shows, that can't be changed. Best to use the directory anyway :)

I just tried what i think Bas was suggesting, it seems to work, but not sure how the system feels about dialing shortcodes from the directory though. I guess it might be ok.

had a shortcode of *89 to dial my mobile, then added *89 as a directory entry.

When you dial, it shows *89 for the first second, then switches to the name.

I assume you are talking about the directory in the individual phones?

You also want to put the whole name and number in
the directory so it displays their name on incoming calls
but you knew that.

Thanks guys, works like a charm.

The way I set it up is I created a short code that dialed the desired number. I went into the system Directory and put in the desired name and for the number I put in the short code. It takes a second for the name to pop up but it does what they want.

How would I set it up to show the name on an incoming call from that number? I tried several things and although outgoing works, incoming only shows the caller id not the name in the directory. For this particular customer it is not an issue. I may have one in the future that wants that and it would be good to know how to get it done.

if the number is in the directory then it will match the name on incoming calls, but in this scenario, that would create two entries for each name.

Except for SIP of course, as avaya are too stubborn to make that match the directory :)
