Here is my issue, I have a ShoreTel IP230 manually configured as follows:
FTP Server - 172.22.128.5
Static IP - 10.3.139.23
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 10.3.139.1
Someone set the password on the phone and there is no way to access the configuration menu.

My network is set as follows:
Gateway - 10.3.139.1
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server Win2K8 - 10.3.139.2
ShoreTel Server - 10.3.139.7
SG50 Switch - 10.3.139.8

How do I get the phone to connect to the ShoreTel Server (FTP Server) and download the new firmware and wipe out previous configured options in the phone? Can put the ShoreTel Server on a 172.22.128.x network and set up a static route between the two? I am not quite sure how static routing works, so I am shooting blind here.

This is all in a test environment so there is no actual network that has to remain up. This 1 phone represents many that I have to resolve. I am just looking for the simplest solution.

have you followed the factory reset process on the phone?

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

Yeah I know the "Default" password. As I said, the customer changed the password.

Follow this step-by-step instruction and the phone is starting from scratch:

Type 772667# on the phone keypad. You should not hear any touch tones, if you do, please press "MUTE" then 772667#.
Enter 1234#
The phone will be reseted and display Factory Test KPD Mode.
Type 25327# (spells clear#) on phone keypad.
Then the phone will show Clearing Phone Data.
The phone will reset and display Factory Test KPD Mode again.
Power cycle the phone.
Screen should be back to normal – you will see the firmware is downloaded

Okay, apparently some of you guys are not understanding that the password on the phone has been changed. 1234# no longer works. I can not do a factory reset on the phone because 1234# is not the correct password.

apologies,

try running up a ftp server on a laptop with the address set in your phone then you can alter the network settings from there. there are files in the inetpub folder that control the config downloaded to the phone usually c:\inetpub\ftproot. if you use a decent ftp program you can pick out what files are needed - there are 3/4 that it will try and download and then copy them from the server and onto your lap ie for a ip230g phone one of the files that are called are:

shore_sevg.txt

which contains (in our case)

DHCP 1
Include "Country_$Country.txt"
Include "Language_$Language.txt"
RtcpEnable 1
AppName sevgap_03_08_04.ebin
BootName sevgbb_03_08_04.ebin
FontPixmap "font_060131.bmp"
IconPixmap "icons_sev_090129.bmp"
WallpaperPixmap "wpsev_050819.bmp"
5004Enable 0
DscpAudio 46
DscpSignaling 26
KeepAlive 240
MaxJitter 50
RtpBase 10000
MgcServers 172.16.100.14,172.16.110.11
Include "sevgcustom.txt"
2833PayType 102

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.
