Hello all. My boss wants a shopingcart added to our site now, and I did some research online for a decent shopping cart. I came accross: cfshopkart, cf-ezcart and cartweaver. Does anyone have any comments on which is better one to get? I went throgh the demo and read the features of all three, and they all seem good (one or two features we want one cart has while another doesn't, like a feature items or a coupons/certificates, etc).

Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi There buddy,

My experience with shopping carts is pretty limited, i've only ever worked with Roman Cart as a pre-built solution.

I found this tutorial quite an interesting read when I was first re-searching coldfusion, it allows you to build your own custom cart and then tie it into a payment system like PayPal or somthing.

It may also be worth searching through the MacroMedia Developer Exchange, i've found a few nice apps on there in the past.

Hi Always willing,

I don't know what type of cart you are interested in using, but if all you need is to be able to process product you already have, surely it is easier to just create your own. If this is your scenario don't forget that the only usefull bit a pre-built cart can give you is the integration to your desired PSP (Payment Service Provider), which isn't to difficult to do anyway, but besides that you will have to create most order processing and reporting there upon yourself anyway, as this seems to differ in almost all orginisations.

If how ever you are intending to use a pre-built cart, why don't you speak to your desired PSP to see who they recommend as all of them have specific carts and stores they know work well with their services.

Cheers,

Thanks for the replies guys. My cf skills are not that advanced for me to build my own shopping cart, but there are enough to tweak a pre-built one, or add modifications if need be.

I became comfertable with cf-ezcart, they seem to have all the features we want, aside from the actual product processing, that cart also has coupons and discounts feature. Ideally, maybe later on, i'd love to build my own cart, but for now (seeing as time is of the essence) buying a pre-built one would be adaquate.

I haven't made my decision yet, but I am now more then ever leaning towards cf-ezcart. I contacted the developers and they have been very helpful in replies and said they would be available after I buy it for tech support, which is good someone who is not really new at cf, but is no where at the level of some of the users here, :)

If you're looking for a full fledge e-commerce application with gift certificates and discounts, try cfwebstore. If all you want is a cart that holds products, you might want to look at the free cart under the "code" section at

Hope This Helps!
