Shockwave???

Help! I am having problems playing .swf movies in the webpages i am creating. The Shockwave movies play in Dreamweaver but fail to play in my browser. Is it a linking problem or am I trying to play the wrong format?

I'm not sure without seeing it but i think it must be the link to it.

Posting the code from the html page would help.
