Shifting printing Qs

Hi all,

We are having an aix4.3.3 print server and we are in the process of shifting the Qs to another server (AIX 5.2). Now, will there be any differences in the drivers between aix version 4.3 and version 5.2?

I mean if i were using Laster Jet 3 on aix 4.3, will it be the same on aix 5.2 using the same driver? or i will have to test and find the suitable drivers again?

Our Qs are using the hpJetDirect and that's how i configure the Qs

Smit print
Add print Queue
Select HPJetDirect
Chose Hewlett-Packard
Chose Laser Jet 3 (good generic printer driver)
Do NOT make this system a BootP/TFTP server
PCL name
hostname of JetDirect Card

You should have no problems. The LaserJet 3 driver is available in 5.2.

I thought of using the same post to write this:

Is there a quicker way for shifting the printer Qs than writing a script to read /etc/qconfig from the old machine and try to create the queues using the information in there?

I haven't started the script yet! so If any body has that already its a plus for me
