shift data into blank spaces

I have a report that runs from a query that contains one name column and 4 other data columns. I have done a lot of processing to get the data in its current state(some good....some probably bad!) I have suppressed the duplicates in the report, but that leaves blank spaces...I have searched the threads, but could not find anything that applies to what I have...here is the table layout...The word null is representative of the null value.

john smith 1977 2903 null 1700
john smith 1899 null 9000 null
john smith null 2543 null 1000
suzy jones 5485 null 5465 2121
suzy jones null null 2132 5465

The Report has the name in a name header and I have suppressed duplicates...so it is only listed once regardless of how many rows of data there is.

what I want to do is take the data where the null values are, and move up the data beneath it, only if the name is the same. In other words, where John Smith has the null in the first colum in the third row, I would not want to move Suzy's data into it.

The finished product for John should only be two rows down as every column contains at least one null. His third column of data would only have one entry in the top row.

Do I need to manipulate this data in the queries or can this be done in the report? I guess the most important questions are can it be done and how? I have played with the can shrink and grow...but I have had no luck with it at all.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks
