I use shellexecute to print a pdf document with adobe reader on 2 different computers. On one of them it loads Adobe reader and keeps it minimized. On the other, it opens up the reader.

The code is identical, so I assume it is a setting someplace. Any ideas where to look?

Might be the value of the show flag you're passing to ShellExecute. I think there are a couple of values that will open the window in it's last state, could be what you're seeing. The following MS link lists the possible flag values.

The last state does seem to make a difference. The nShowCmd however, doesn't seem to do anything.

Have you managed to solve this yet?

If not, you might try checking the file associations on the users' machines.

In a folder window, go to Tools / Options /File Types. Scroll down to PDF, then click Advanced. If there is an Open With ... entry, click on Edit.

I don't know any particular setting that would cause the behaviour you are seeing, but it would be worth comparing the results of the above steps on each computer and note any differences.
