Hi Gurus,
I need to have a sample of Unix shell (sh,ksh or csh)scripts that could change a password (pwd000X) quarterly where X is in a sequence of 1-10. Thanks in advance.

The passwd program does not allow you to pipe or redirect input into it. You cannot do this.

Bill.

I am not sure what is that you want.
do you want to change password if it is pwd000x?
Bjverzal is right you can't give passwd a argument for new password.

Sachin

Thanks for your responses. Sorry, i did not give a clear detail about the password. The password is not a UNIX pwd. Its just an external pwd used access an ftp server to ftp files from our Sun to its system. I'd like to change it automatically on my shell script. Now i have to do it quarterly change on my script. I need a shell script that could change a value of a parameter (here a ftp server pwd) quaterly. Thanks in advance.

Jn :)
