When printing from IE 5.5, some of our customers get a script error on line 540:
URL: res://C:\winnt\system32\shdoclc.dll/preview.dlg.
Reinstalling internet explorer doesn't help and neither the following tips from the microsoft site:
- Replace iepeers.dll
- Set encoding to Unicode
- Clear the Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) output selection
- Remove Header and Footer
- Disable Script Debugging
- Display Notification About Every Error
- Set printer to printing after last page is spooled
Does anybody know an option that really does work? Any help is wanted urgently..

I Had this problem with a customer of mine and we had to call microsoft and they slowed the the hardware acceleration one notch to the left and that solved it. I hope this helps. It cost him 90 dollars for microsoft to tell him that.

The problem occurs on WindowsNT40 Workstations, no HardwareAcceleration in SystemProperties there..
Maybe it's best for me to call (and pay...) Microsoft as well, i've tried about everything that's suggested in forums.

YEAH! By coincidence I found the solution. Would you believe it's only the replacement of wininet.dll??
On workstations where the problem occurred wininet.dll version4.72.3007.0, 15 oct 1998, was replaced by version5.50.4918.600, 6 jun 2002, and it all worked again!!!
Probable cause was an incomplete update from SP4 to SP6..

I tried all the fixes, none worked. The only way around it for me on our W2k pc's was to roll back the install to IE5.5. No problems since then!

I had a similar problem with IE 5.5 running on a Windows 2000 machine that had limited capabilities. My error was on line 220 instead of 540 however. The only solution I found was to go back to IE 5.0. Yeah, it's a step backward, but at least it works. Hope this helps.

Hi All,

Even I faced the same problem, but the line no. was 1344.

When I was debugging the ASP Pages line by line I found out the problem. One <Frame> was closed without any src and it is creating the problems. When I gave some sample SRC then it was working, when I am removing the SRC then the same error is thrown.

Please check this out if anyone face the same problem, this may be one reason for this errors.

with regards,
Jayakumar
