Sharp VLNZ105U DV camera not recognized

It was working fine, now it doesn't work at all. The problem: When I plug in the firewire cable, Windows doesn't recognize it-- it used to come up in Device Manager as "imagaing device"-- now, I just as well plug the other end into my ear, for all the good it does. Has anyone else had this problem with this Camcorder? Any suggestions?

-I tried 2 firewire cards, and 2 cables, tried it on my sister's computer, & upgraded from Win 2k to XP. Still the same.
