On my Sharp AR-M208N copier/printer, I get this error message when I try to print: "PostScript printing not licensed for this printer"!

1. What does this mean?

B. How do I cure this?

Thanks!

I don't know anything about Sharp products. However the error message is very descriptive. In many printers the PostScript module is an option. Usually an expensive option. Looks like you didn't get it. Printers almost always have a couple PDL's.

A quick search on google show this printer uses "Sharp SPCL Host-based controller with JBIG" there own format as default. See if you can find a SPCL driver. This printer also had optional equipment that added PCL and emulated PostScript.

Your Sharp dealership should be able to help you out with this. I work for the competition and we help people with this all the time.

Good luck,

Thanks, UncleRick....

The Sharp dealer was in my office when I wrote that message. He had never seen that error report before. In any event, he's hooked the copier/printer to a host/CPU via USB.

We hope that works!
