I've already posted this in the IBM Storage forum, so I thought I'd post it here.

Who out there is running Shark/ESS ? How big ? Can you point me to some non-IBM reviews ? EMC is throwing some sludge around about the Shark.

Are you happy you purchased it ? Would you do it again if you could ?

Thanks, Bill.

We had a model F20 with 1 terabyte of space for our OS390. Just recently purchased another F20 with 1 terabyte and have another terabyte on order right now, with forward looking plans of purchasing an expansion cabinet in maybe the next year.

Very easy to learn, vary easy to install, team support from the technical sales and the hardware installers has been great and prompt. They do a complete training session with you and excellent follow-up.

We currently have 4 hosts scsi connected with 4 more coming in with scsi, then we are going with fiber for the next 8 hosts for the terabyte we have on order now.

Recommend it...Yes!

Remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic.

The shark is good.
its basically a rs/6000 running AIX with ssa storage!

We currently have two Sharks. With a total of over 5 terabytes. We are currently in the process of ordering an expansion frame fully populated with 36 gig drives. We have most of our sp nodes atached with 2 hosts scsi connection each and 2 - S80's attahced, also with 2 hosts scsi connections each. We will be going to fiber within the year and utilizing a Director. We also have one NT server currently attached and plan on adding more once the 128 port Director arrives.

We are very happy with the ESS's and look forward to expanding.
