I shared a folder on a windows 2003 server but it doesn't show up on the network in the mac machine. I've read around and this should be a fairly easy task (Finder > Go > Connect to server > smb://ipaddress.) It's supposed to automatically show up if I browse as well but this is not the case. Someone before my time here was able to share another folder on another server. I see it mounted as "Mac_Marketing" on the mac... which points to a "Marketing" folder on the old server. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your description wasn't clear.

If you open smb://ipaddress, does it find the share?

In any case - there is a long standing problem with Macs on a Windows network where Windows laptops are being used. When I looked into it I discovered that whenever joe random user would plug his laptop into the network, the laptop would announce to the world that it was the "domain controller" and that all network queries should go to it. Now, the windows machines on the network would ignore this message, but the Mac would believe it and send it's queries to the wrong place. I never found a solution to it - except that when our company moved and the network was restructured, it stopped happening.
