Sharing Video on the Intranet

I wish to be able to share some videos on my portal. Although upon uploading them as documents, memory hits through the roof.

I thought about using shared folders, and then adding a virtual directory in IIS and linking to it in the portal, although it saves a lot of memory - it doesnt work for some reason. Just opens the link and not the file.

Is there anything else I can do in order to be able to put video on ?
