I believe I read about doing this, but it was over 75 years ago.....
I have a server running NT4.0, SP6a. It has a Digi Ports/8em 8-port serial board on it. 4 of the ports are in use with modems for local incoming RAS conections. I would like to place 3 more modems on it set for outgoing calls only then share them to the netowrk so NT workstations could connect to them as though they were on a local COM port and dial out.
The package the workstations are running knows nothing about networks. It is designed to dial out of a local modem and do credit card authorizations. My problem is that I am out of physical wiring and therefore can't run phone lines to each desk to get them modems. I would like to redirect them to shared modems somehow, hopefully without 3rd party software. Jeff
If everything seems to be going well: you don't have enough information.......
