Hi everyone - We have two users who are now sharing one extension. Both of them have their own mailboxes on a Partner 7 module. Only one mailbox can answer the call obviously, but I'm wondering if there's an easier way for a caller to get to the second mailbox? I thought about using the personal operator feature, but can I map that to just a mailbox and not an actual extension. Perhaps someone might have a better idea of how to accomplish this in the easiest way. Thanks for the help!

If the voicemail is an Avaya Partner Messaging, check to see if creating a "guest mailbox" would work in your situation.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Why not change the mailbox to an Auto attendant. Then in the AA recording, say something like for bob press 1 and for mary press 2. Then do a mailbox transfer to a mailbox for bob, and the same for mary.

I didn't even know that I can assign an Auto Attendant to an intercom call. When the VM transfers the call initially, it will ring the extension, which would be considered internal to the system. How would I go about setting up the Partner Messaging to answer with an Auto-Attendant style greeting instead of the mailbox that is set in Auto VMS Cover?

Delete the current mailbox from the extension. Reassign the extension as an Auto Attendant, which is option 3 (1 is mailbox, 2 is transfer only, 3 is AA). Select the AA, say No. 2. Set the phone status as With a Phone. Keep the Auto VMS Coverage on the extension.

Create 2 more mailboxes, without a phone, such as 51 and 52. In AA2, selector code 1 is "record a message in mailbox 51", and selector code 2 is record a message in mailbox 52.

If you have an ACS R7, revision O, or and ACS R8, you can add a MWI Inspect button, and a DSS button for 51 and 52, which will show the message waiting status for the mailboxes.

Will give that a try, Tommy - many thanks for the post. I have the original R7 software (91E). Is there an easy and inexpensive way to upgrade to revision 0, or R8 for that matter? Thanks much.

MWI inspect button... Nice to see a missing feature added.

If your system is supported by an Authorized Avaya Business Partner, they can upgrade the software. If the processor was purchased from an online dealer, contact the seller.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
