We are currently running 10 - G5 macs within a Editing suite enviroment.
These macs co exist in a windows 2k3 server domain, with about 15 xp proffesional computers - and 4 unix/irix systems that import and export video footage.

We currently run ADMIT MAc on the g5's in order for them to easily access any other network share within the editing house.

connect to server- choose domain - mount folder

This seems to work fine.

We have Project folders shared on each g5 mac - that editors from other rooms can import and export to and fro.

The actual movement of the files are ok, however we did run into permissions issues as to who could read/write and execute the files.

In order to solve this problem we inserted the NSUMask into the Global Preferences file with an integer value of "0" on the understanding that any new file created on that computer would be created with a 777 red/write /execute for anyone.
We then went in under root in the terminal window and Chmod -r 777 on the project folder - so that everything in there was given r/w/e (777).

This also seemed to work -

However the issue seems to lie when we are importing files to the mac folders from the unix/irix boxes.
The files that come across from there are given read only to some members( so it is obviously not being affected by the NSU mask)
- we could chmod these individual files , however it will be a pain to go in and do so every 5 mins.
A script is 1 option which i ran across in the macosx forums which chmods files every 1 minute is a possibilty - however

I really wanted to know if there was any other ways to go about this ?
