I have an USB Officejet multifunction printer and I am looking for share it on my network but it doesnt have an ethernet port. I bought a Motorola USB print server and it allow me to now print but I can't use any of the other functions like scanning or faxing. Motorola tells me I can't becuase the print server doesnt allow 2 way communications. Anyone have any creative ideas on how to get this done?

Hi, I've installed several of this series of device and my copy of the manual says that (even with the recommended HP print server) the printing functions are the only ones that can be shared. Specifically, scanning over a network connection is something that needs to be designed in and they didn't on this model. I've never been successful at attempting to use a function that wasn't included in the design. HP does have other models that expand the available features over a network, either with an internal print server or an external one. If this is important to you, it looks like time to sell and buy something else!

Good luck,

---Will
