sharing folders/partitions vista /xp

am awaiting vista business cd to replace basic.
intend to dual boot with current xp pro.
have read posts on installing vista after xp.

current setup is dell primary, c primary xp, d primary data, + dell extended mediadirect.

any tips on how to add vista partition, sharing data partition/folders.

Have you got a partition that you can install Vista in? There is minimum size requirements (15GB).

on my vostro laptop, i have 2 issues making room for a primary partition, and sharing a data partition (primary), maybe swap file etc. having had a bad time with vista, i intend to work with xp and gradully move to vista post sp1 etc.

i use trueimage on xp and hope it or paragon drive mgr
will allow me to image my vista partition. business does
have a system backup feature but i don't like/fully understand vista recovery environment.

will also eventually drop media direct partition which dell makes an extended partition, as my favoutite linux distro has to load into it and this confuses direct media facility.

eventually will start fresh with an install of vista and then maybe add xp or pclinuxos depending on vista reliability.

i suppose a boot mgr might solve the 4 primary partitions
issue but i haven't found one i like eg gag
