Sharing extension

Is it possible to have a hardphone in the office with one extension and a softphone that registers the same extension if the user works from home 1 day a week?

I know I can do an Answer DN but wasn't sure if the softphone could just select the same extension (probably not).

What is hotdesk and how does it work?

you cannot use the same ext. to register.

with hotdesking you are able to transfer one phones settings and DN to another phone.

just register your softphone to any free dn and then "hotdesk" your office phone to your softphone.
see hotdesking section in manual.

I assume the mailbox can't be shared either?

With hotdesking, it doesn't matter as it becomes "your phone" once you log in.

You can assign an alternate MWI under the mailbox if you wish, if you are going with the answer DN method.
