I'm developing a database that will be shared by branches in KS and in CA. I've split the database and I'm looking at how to best locate that so users in both states have the fastest access. The problem I am running into is if I put the back end on our network drive in KS, the CA people have very slow load times. Likewise, if I store it on theirs the KS users have slow load times.

Is there a way to locate a copy of the backend in both places and have them sync with each other, say, overnight? Or some other technique that would work better?

I'm not familiar with the different techniques for doing this so any help would be appreciated.

No citrix server in either KS or CA ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

It appears that we do. How would that work?

They can log directly into the citrix server which would have the database or can be transferred to a server with the database on it. Thus a single standalone db. Ask your database admin, or network admin or see

I will definitely look into that. Aside from that, can you think of any way that two databases in different locations could be synched together on a regular basis?

MS Access has a built-in synchonisation facility called database replication. Providing the data doesn't need to be updated in realtime this may well do what you want...

Ed Metcalfe.

Replication sounds like a method I would like to try. Do you happen to have any good links that explain how it works and how to set it up?

Everything I've found so far is about as clear as mud.
