i am trying to create a plan for log shipping and in booksonline it says....

How to configure log shipping (Enterprise Manager)
To configure log shipping with the Database Maintenance Plan Wizard

Note Before you configure log shipping, you must create a share on the primary database to make the transaction logs available. This is a share off of the directory that the transaction logs are dumped to. For example, if you dump the logs to the directory e:\data\tlogs\, you could create the \\logshipping\tlogs share off the direc

can any body explain how to make it shareable...?

easy enough.

right click the folder you want to put the transaction logs in and select properties. Select sharing tab, change it to share this folder. Make sure you set permissions correctly since they default for everyone. You proably want to restrict it to dba's and the account/accounts that sqlserver uses for logging into the system.

wel, got it.. also can i create a plan through wizrd to restore the log files automaticaly like we backup log file automaticaly at given times.

the whole log shipping thing is three parts. all are set up when you implement the enterprise server log shipping. the backup, the transfer, the recovery into the standby. With log shipping, you will no longer need to perfom regular transactional backups on the database since its doing them at what ever interval you set up in log shipping. you still need to perfom regular database backups as well as diff backups if you want.
