hi guys,
I'm not sure how to setup a public folder that enables two users sharing their calendar. both users using Outlook 2003. what I'm trying to do is setup public folder so the assistant can view and change her boss's calendar. no need to view his mail or anything else,

assistance is appreciated,

There is really no need to set up a public calender. If you set up a public calender you would have to go in and edit the permissions so that only those to could access it. Try this out.
Tell the boss to set up the permissions so that she can view his calendar (delegate)in outlook.
In outlook the boss needs to right click on calendar and go to properties. Go to the permissions tab. He can add her and give her whatever permissions he deems necessary.
For the assistant to view his calendar:
In outlook click on file> open> other users folder
Select the boss and calendar.
This is for 2002...not for sure about 2003. I'm sure there pretty much the same.

P.S. Make sure to set permissions on both the Mailbox level and then the Calendar level...

thanks guys. I already did that. I can view the other person calendar but everytime I want to view the calendar i have to go to file> open> other users folder.
is there a way where I have easier access to the calendar such as having in on my mail box, maybe under another folder or something instead of going through the menu to do that everytime I want to view it?

thanks much,
w

Try this. Open Outlook. Use file ->open ->other users folder to open the boss' calendar. Then when you go to close Outlook use file ->exit and log off but DON'T close the boss' calendar first. Next time you open Outlook the boss' calendar will automatically open.

It means that the boss' calendar will always be open when the assistant has her Outlook open, but its the best solution I can come up with.

Cheers.

OMG..Let's see.....click on file, move mouse over to open, move mouse over to bosses calendar then click. that's 2 clicks. If they are b$tching about having to click 2x verses 1x tell them to get something else better to do with there time. You have more important issues to worry about. And if you want to go through the effort of setting up a public calendar and setting the appropriate permissions then to help prevent the extra click then I wish I was in your position.

Sorry for the above post...Letting out a little frustration in the wrong place. late night + early morning + no caffeine = grouch. Sorry for the above post, no pun intended

Each user has to share the Calendar + the Personal Folder should NOT be PST, in that case, the secretary can add a shortcut to the boss's calendar without having to open it every time.

As for the clicks, Public folders would mean the boss has to make his appointments in 2 places, private and public, which is worse you think?
