Did anybody try that? I have Windows ME on the main computer, just got AOL DSL modem. Do I need a router or sharing program to connect second computer that has W2k on it?

yes you would need a router to share the dsl connection *ducks and hides* "don't shoot me i'm only the messenger!"

ruta1588,

Take a look at this thread.

With windows me and later they incorporated what is called ICS (Internet connection sharing) which allows you to share your internet with other PC's along as you have a lan connection between the two. Using a router is better but costly when it is not needed.

bf0x: AOL7 is not compatible with ICS. [smile]
AOL6 can't be shared either, and AOL4 has issues. No idea about AOL8 yet - maybe that will be compatible? Possibly? No, I suppose not. [wink]

Better buy a router. No, in fact - better change ISP :) <marc>[ul]help us help![li]please provide feedback on what works / doesn't[/li][li]not sure where to start? click here: faq581-3339[/li][/sup][/ul][/sup]
