Hi,

We run Act on our NT server.

The database is stored on the server, but we need to ensure that ALL aspects of Act - letters, templates, screen layouts, report layouts, etc, etc, are also stored on the server, and that all users use/access these, and NOT any default ones stored locally.

How do we achive this ?

Regards,
Jay/UK

You can't really *force* them to use the server templates, but you can make it really hard not to!

1. Put all the templates, layouts, ect. in a shared network location.
2. Take one computer and set up ACT using Edit >> Preferences to point to the new file locations. Most important are the General tab (default locations) and the Startup tab.
3. Use Actdiag.exe to backup the registry changes to a file. (I usually just export the whole key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Symantec\ACT!])
4. On the other computers, simply run that registry file to import the new file locations. Then delete all the local letters, templates, layouts, ect...

Now all computers will point to the notwork locations by default, and they won't have any local templates to accidently use.
