Hi
I have a desktop running XP and a laptop running Vista. The desktop is wired to a wireless router and the laptop connects wirelessly.
I have a printer that has network capability.
My question is how can I connect the printer so that both computers can see and print to it?
Do I need to setup a workgroup with the 2 PC's as members, connect the printer to the wired PC and share the printer? If this is the case the printer would only be available to the wireless PC when the PC that the printer was attached to was turned on, I want the printer to be available to both machines all the time. Could I do the above but connect the printer to the router? the router is allways on and the printer would therefore allways be available is this possible ? and if so how do I set it up
The printer has a NIC.
Is there an easier way ? do I need to setup a workgroup?

Just plug the printer nic into your router. Assign an IP Address in the subnet for the printer to use. Add the printer (Network attached) to both computers.
