On a new computer running Windows Server 2003 R2 w/SP2 I have two partitions C and D. The D drive has a folder called 123 that needs to be shared to the 7 users on a workgroup. When I go to the properties of the D drive the share name of the folder is D$. The 123 folder in the D drive is shared. Permissions is given to Everyone and Everyone has full control in the security tab.
When users try to map on their machines (five Win 200 Pro and two XP Pros) they are asked for usernames and passwords. When the administrative usnername and passwords are entered they are able to see the shared folder. Once the computer is restarted the 123 folder asks for the same information (username and password).
What can I do so that the username and password is not asked each time the computer is restarted.

Should I delete the hidden share value of the D drive?

Thank you for looking.

The d$ cannot be deleted. It is an admin share. Your users will need to map directly to \\servername\123, not d$.

Check the share permissions of the 123 share, and the security tab of the 123 folder.

2000 and XP should cache their credentials when they first log in and they check the box to save password.

Thanks TechyMcSe2k.

I will double check permissions and the security tab. Cheers1
