Hello, I have a computer that logs on to a domain. I install lots of software on other PCs that are braught to my office. My PC has two nic cards, one to join the domain and one to connect (via a crossed cat 5 cable) to the PC I am installing. I would like to share some installation folders/drives only with the other PC (the one I am installing on). Is there a way to create a shared folder/drive password in XP (as in 98). I would prefer password protecting the shared data than setting the user rights to access it.

wrong forum - should be XP pro (forum779).

You can't password protect shares in XP - but you can make the share accessible only to for example your user and whatever user you log onto other PC with. Then it won't be accessible on the domain to anyone else.

There are 3rd party password protection apps - but I've no experience of them.
