I am using FMP7 on a mac...there I have make a simple databse (contact list) just for testing.
The Helpfile says, I need to open a database, go to FileMaker Pro//Sharing//FileMaker Network and set the file share ON, and set it for all users!

Then it says I can open the shared database from any client machine over a webbrowser, but this is not woking.

I am trying to open the database from my PC wich has no FCP on it (some people told me, this is not nessesery), and every time I try to open the database: FMP7://IP/Database.fp7 I got a, Page not found.
I got an apache webserver on my mac, but also when I turn it off, its still the same problem.

So what do I need to do, to open my database (wich is on a mac) from any PC/MAC machine in my network?

You need to turn on Instant Web Publishing.

Filemaker Network is for another filemaker client to connect to your database

I would like to have a list of values for a field that the users can select from but I would also like to allow them to enter data if they need it. I am sure this is easy but I do not know how to set it up correctly.
Thank you,
Heidi

You need to choose Pop-Up List from the field format dialog box.

select the field in question, then choose format/field format. Change from a standard field to pop-up list. then choose the list you want to use. This allows them to choose from the list or they can single click on the field and type in the box.

Hope that helps
John
