Keep in mind that free/open source doesn't always mean low cost in your implementation. It really depends on the software and how much time you spend with it. Some (not all) commercial solutions may be found to be cheaper and more effective IMO.

But do others have such tight integration with Microsoft Office, Exchange, and Active Directory. Not to mention the ability to expand the Help Desk and customize it to your organization. SharePoint is becoming a defacto collaboration tool in the enterprise, so users who spend time learning SharePoint aren't wasting time with a product that will go away in a few years.
