Hello...

I am experiencing a problem with all of my SharePoint installs, where when I go to extend a virtual server, I am served with the error:

Metadata manifest 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\60\bin\sqmcfg.dll' does not exist or has invalid signature. (Error code: 2779).

This is happening on all of the servers, and no configuration changes have been made other then security updates.

On one of my testing servers, I have tried to uninstall and then reinstall the software. That did not work, and I am still being served with the same error.

Also, I have noticed that the SharePoint software is no longer availible for download from the Microsoft site. I am wondering if there was a problem with one of the recent updates, and now they are having the fix the software before making it availible again.

Anyways, this is a huge problem for me right now, and I am wondering if anyone else is having the same problem. And if so, is there a fix to it?

Thanks in advance!

Apparently a known problem there is a new version of SharePoint you can download from MS. Dated 12/13/03.

Yeah, I ended up finding some information on it after they released the KB article back in November. Although, I downloaded and installed the new version you are referring to a while back when it was released, and I actually am still having the same problem. And on top of that, the new version would not accept my database backups. Not sure what happened there but I lost a lot of data because of it. So I have given up until they release an actual patch for it. Until then, I am just using the work around of setting the system clock back, extending the virtual server, and then changing the clock back. Seems pretty ghetto to have to do that, but until they officially fix it, I guess it will have to do.

Thanks anyways!
