SharePoint Team Services vs Windows SharePoint Services?

Hi, I've been looking around for information about SharePoint and I seem to see these terms interchanged frequently. But, I've seen a few articles that mention "SharePoint Team Services or Windows SharePoint Services"... What is the difference between these? Is it just two terms for the same thing?

I have a sample Windows SharePoint Services site I've been messing around with, just wondering if they are actually different. Thanks.

STS SharePoint Team Services is an old product (2001 i think).

WSS Windows SharePoint Services is the current version.

Then you have 2 SharePoint product versions 1 old and 1 new SPS2003(new)
