I have sharepoint services 2.0 and want to upgrade to 3.0. If I download the 3.0 file and install it will it be compatible with sbs sp1?

There are some known issues on installing 3.0 on SBS. I do not know them but i remember reading a few. I am sure others will chime in.

i tried uninstalling 3.0 and it starts uninstalling it but it shuts down in the middle. i tried repairing and that doesn't help. i have SBS standard and it seems to have installed some kind of embedded version of SQL server and I don't know if that is what is messing it up or not. I guess I need to call a MS Professional. AHHHHHHHHHH

SBS will allow 3.0 to COEXIST with 2.0, but you don't want to overwrite your 2.0 with it.

Read this whitepaper on installing 3.0 on SBS 2003:

It walks you through the COEXISTENCE path. It also says that if you do an "in-place upgrade" you will lose some SBS functionality and lose your 2.0 database.

How good are your backups? You may want to fully restore your system if you care about SharePoint, or get someone to help you with it. Depending on your area, you may even be able to find someone on Tek-Tips to help you.
