Hi all,

I know this is probably more of an infrastructure question then a sharepoint question however I am curious to know what people have done as far as hosting Windows Sharepoint Services v 3.0 as an extranet/intranet and how they managed to set it up ?

I'm currently looking at a project that requires sharepoint services 3.0 exposed to the internet as well as an intranet component. We want suppliers (and possibly customers) to access the site from the internet for collaboration with our internal employees (who should also be able to access it from outside as well as internally).

Limitations would be that I can purchase one new Windows 2003 R2 Server.

I am thinking of hosting IIS with sharepoint as its own domain controller (in a separate forest) in the perimeter network, opening all ports required through the firewall to the internal network and establishing a forest trust relationship between the forests.

I'm also curious about this A.D.A.M or Active Directory Application Mode technology and how that might fit.

What I don't know are what the risks or issues are of doing things this way and what others have done (perhaps more simple ?)

I'd appreciate some feedback.

Thanks

Kevin.
