sharepoint services 3.0-error by send e-mail

Any time then i tried to send e-mail to alredy maked user in sharepoint,i got an error sometimes like : The server has not been correctly configured for sending e-mail.
If i look the event viewer of the server i get the next error.
"During the communication with Smtp-host have wrongly acted".

The smtp sever is correctly configured en the services for send en recieve email too.
Do you know what is wrong ?
