SharePoint Search within sites not working

Hi All,
I have Sharepoint 2003 with SQL server 2000.
The search engine from the main portal is working great.
But the search from each site is not working and keep returning empty results.
Is any one know what is the source of the problem?

Hi,

Are you expecting results from outside the SharePoint (WSS) site you are running the query from? The search in a WSS site only searches the actual site you are running your search query from, i.e. it will not display results from any ohter site (not even a subsite).

But you are saying that it does not return ANY results at all? Even if you search for a document etc. that you know is located on the site? Make sure that your Full text-catalogs on your SITE database in SQL is working OK and has been populated. Since WSS search is based on full-text search this needs to work.

I get results only from the top portal.
do i need to enable search for each website?
If yes do you know from where?
