Hi,
I am not able to get the keyword search function working. I am running Sharepoint 2003 on one server with a SQL 2000 backend on another server. I am trying to set up indexing for the sharepoint portal and none of the admin interfaces are present.
Thanks in advance for the help.

It sounds like your problems are not limited to the keyword search function.

What happens when you type

http://[thenameofyourportal]/_layouts/1033/default.aspx

in the address window? Do you get the Admin page? Do you get an error? Is your server farm configuration in compliance with MS's recommendations?

thanks for the reply.
When I went to the URL template that you gave me (http://[thenameofyourportal]/_layouts/1033/default.aspx) I did get an error:
Error

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services.

Also what exactly is the function of the URL that you had told me to go to? I think we are getting somewhere.

Thanks,

The URL (in which I assume you replaced "[thenameofyourportal]" with your actual portal name) is the address of the SharePoint Administrator home page.

Hi,
Would you also be able to diagnose the error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"? What could be causing the error.

Thanks,
v rao

Sounds like a corrupt installation. I'd start over from square one if you haven't gone overboard with content yet.
