Sharepoint Restore

Hi guys,

Currently our company has sharepoint service running in windows sbs2003.

<-using the sql2000 desktop engine.
I have a backup using stsadm.exe tool.Now my question is how do i restore?
one the site

http://companyweb/important

is missing(got deleted)..I tried to restore the backup into

http://companyweb2

but i got an error saying the site is not configure in the config database(not the exact error message,i forgot to copy down)
I also tried to extend

http://companyweb2

and restore got another error saying the site is in use.

How do i restore the backup into companyweb2??

user confirm he has not deleted the page...could some setting be activated to hide the page??i got a 404 not found error for the missing page..
