I have a SP 07 test site I am mothballing. The application server is on a VM, so I can simply archive the vhd file. The database is on a physical server that I would like to wipe completely.

Q1: If I needed to restore in the future and created a new SQL server with the same machine name, restored the DB to it, would the application connect properly or does SP use machine SIDs behind the scenes?

Q2: Assuming I can recreate the server in the future: Obviously I have to have a DB backup and I'm assuming I script out the logins for back up - what else would I have to back up?
