Sharepoint Portal 2003 alerts not working

We currenlty use Sharepoint Portal 2003 and WSS 2.0. the alerts are working fine on wss2.0 but not the portal sites.

I have restarted the services and the server. and i have even rebuilt the index no such lucky. connection to the mail server is fine and i have checked the service accounts also and they are fine.

this is what i am getting in the spsnotficationserver log file

I wonder if you lost the full text indexes on your portal content databases and if that could triger the failure. I would disable and then re-enable those indexs using the stored procedures in the databases. Make sure that your sql full text search is working corectly.

How would i check the sql full text search?
