We upgraded our SP2007 server with a patch in january 2010 and I'm not sure which one it was. One of my colleagues was able to go to the doc library level and click on the actions menu, open windows explorer. (he did not receive a dialog box prompting for username and password) before the patch. And, all of a sudden after the patch was done a month ago, he's getting this dialog box and he's a full-control user. Even if he clicks the cancel button on the dialog box, he's still able to view the windows explorer dialog section. I don't think he's supposed to get that prompt. He's also using windows xp. And as an administrator, I don't get that box at all when I try to open it up and I'm using windows 7.
Are we supposed to receive that login dialog? If the user puts in the correct username and password, it still doesn't let them in, but if you cancel it, the user will be able to have access. Is this a sharepoint issue or an issue with the patch with microsoft? And any resolution to this? Thanks guys.
