SharePoint notifications problem

Hi, I have some problems with standard SharePoint notifications and now I am searching for solution that can replace standard notification system.
I know about enhancements in version 3.0, but I need something right now.

I need a solution that can:
Provide full information on event in message letter.
Sends notifications to message creator, editor and to a person in "assigned to" like fields.


P.S.Does anyone use SPNS? I download it from Looks good, do what I want, but a little costly for me. Any bad expirience?
