Sharepoint Lockout

I am getting my feet wet at a new job. The school that I work at has many websites corresponding to each of the schools. Web contributors that previously had access to modify their websites no longer have permissions to do so. In reviewing the IIS on the server it seems that this access was developed using sharepoint services. When I tryu to open sharepoint services, I am prompted for the password of the person who has retired--which I don't have. There are security groups devoped for the website directories that must be generated through sharepoint services--they are named: OWS-23497643993-auth, for example. How can I recover from this situation, as I think getting the password will not happen? Thanks.

Only a suggestion, but if it is running Sharepoint Protal Server, look at what userid is running the services and try log on with that? Let me know if that works if it doesnt we'll try something else.

Thanks ouzojd,

I have found that the groups are local to the web server, and while I am not able to open Sharepoint Services, I can set the permissions on the local groups to allow the websters in each school to have access to modify their own websites. Thanks for your help.

No worries, you might want to get that sorted out anyway incase you need to in the future. Are you logged in to the server as a domain admin?

I have both domain admin and local admin permissions, so I think I am OK on this. I have about 25 locations for individual websites, and I did not have security groups to match them on our AD DC. When I went to local on the web server, I found the groups. Thanks.
