Hi

I have a question about licensing.

If I have 3 files servers and 1 Exchange server in my location do I need to install Share Point on each server or can one installation index all the servers ?

Thanks

Andrew

I'm pretty sure that you have to purchase a licence per server.

I would have thought that you could index from one SharePoint server. When adding Content Sources you can put a whole heap of them into the Management / Content Sources folder.

If you wanted to have a different SharePoint system index each resource then you'd need more licenses, but that seems like overkill to me.

I think you buy a licens for each server where you install SPS.
Then there is two options for the licens. One based on processors and one based on CAL's

Planning for what is right can be a big task.
