Hi,

I have an annoying sharepoint issue and hope that someone can assist me.

In a normal file environment, say C:\Drive, you can copy an excel file and the links contained within would remain dynamic. e.g. I have a folder containing five excel files, one file feeds/links from the other four. It is called Master. Each week the master is copied and pasted as the current weekending date. The links contained within would update with the new file name.

In sharepoint it remains as master. I need to go into the spreadsheet and use the replace function to update all links.

Is there something that can be done within sharepoint to allow for automatic link updates when the folder is copied and pasted?

Thank you in anticipation

Jo

Just a WAG, but the links are based on file system relationships. SPS document libraries are another animal; they live through the virtue of the WebDAV client.

You may have to migrate all related spreadsheets to the doc library for the links to be valid.

Hi Phil,

All related spreadsheets reside in the doc library.

The related spreadsheets live in the same folder, we rename the folder by copying and pasting it every week and thats where the dynamic links are lost. The links remain static and keep the original location's details, not the new folder name.

Hope this clarifies a little more.

Cheers

Joe
