Hi everyone, have been working with Symantec on this for a few days now with no progress. From our backup server (Backup Exec 11d) we are unable to see a praticular Server Farm in the Microsoft SharePoint Server Farms list. when we try to add it it still cannot be found. we have the proper "Agent" installed and the Backup Exec server "can" see other SharePoint farms, just not the one I am mostly concerned with. We are able to see the rest of the file system on that SharePoint server however, just not the SharePoint resources.
Backup Server Specs
- Backup Exec 11d Rev 7170 SP3
- Windows Server 32bit 2003
- Sharepoint Agent License for SharePoint Portal Services
Sharepoint Server Specs
- Sharepoint Services 2.0 (vanilla install)
- MSDE 2000
- Windows Server 64bit 2003
- Backup Exec agent v11.0.7170.32
after days of diagnosing and checking Event Logs etc, their Tier 2 tech tells me that the SharePoint database is not configured to allow Backup Exec a connection and that I need to talk with a SharePoint Admin or a SQL Admin and that Backup Exec cannot back up the database unless they have a connection to it.
I feel like I wasted the money for this agent and it wasn't cheap. we have all kinds of data in sharepoint already with no way to back it up.
any tips on how we should proceed here? thank you all!
Steve
